Fun With Zoe

So on Mommy's birthday, the Burnettes were so nice to watch Ian while Mommy and Daddy went to Fondue (Mommy's favorite) to celebrate. We asked them at the last minute (Mommy had a sudden fondue craving in the afternoon), so thank you so much for agreeing! Ian had a lot of fun at the Burnettes. They fed him dinner, much more nutritious than the McDonalds that we were going to feed him, played with him, watched Fraggle Rock, and Zoe showered Ian with lots of hugs and kisses. Thank you Kim for taking these pictures. I downloaded them from Zoe's site and posted them on our page for all of you to see. These were two of my favorites. We're finding out more and more about Ian. He's affectionate with his parents and will give a kiss to you if we ask, but he's not quite sure how to handle it when others want to kiss and hug him. We were at another birthday party the day before and the birthday boy who's just a few months older than Ian kept trying to hug him, Ian wanted no part of that. He was scared and kept running away from the boy. Oh well, we're working on the affection thing. Ian had such a great time there and since we had him out for most of the day as well, he was exhausted at the end of the night and fell asleep there. There's a few pics that show how tired he was. As soon as we picked him up and went in the car, he was out.

My First Spring Training Game

Uncle Richard, Auntie Nora, Leanne, Brandon, and Auntie Kristi came to visit this past weekend. Brandon was bat boy at the Giants Spring Training game against Kansas City Royals. It was Ian's first game and he was great the entire time. He sat with all of us and helped cheer (although most of the time he cheered for the Royals). We tried to get him to wear his SF Giants hat, but he wasn't too in to wearing it. There's a couple of pics and a video from the game. He had a lot of fun after the game. While we waiting for the Lews, he played by the front gate of stadium. He likes to climb so he was climbing on to the gates while also playing with Brandon. It was such a nice day that we went to the hotel swimming pool where the Lews were staying at. Ian's old enough now to have fun in the water. He was having a great time kicking and jumping with mommy in the pool.

Ian's got a thing for napkins. At the game we went to get lunch. We gave Ian some napkins to clean his hands and face and to just distract him. It worked for awhile, he was opening them up, trying to clean the table (he learned this at daycare), and also wiping his face. One of the napkins fell on the floor. He said "ohoh". I told him it's ok and hope that he would carry on. Noooo, he had a cow. He cried tears until I picked it up. Then, another napkin flew away. He watched it and watched it and kept saying "oh oh" "oh oh". We finally had to walk away so he would stop thinking about the napkin.

Ian had a fro. We really didn't want to cut the curls, but Ian's hair was getting pretty nappy. Every time we touched it, he would say "owwwee". So, on Mommy's birthday we went to a hair cutting salon specializing in children and got his hair trimmed. The lady who cut his hair was very nice and patient because she has a child of her own that's Ian's age. Ian did not want any part of it in the beginning and then we found ways to distract him. We were able to keep most of the curls in the back but they're just shorter now. The hair surrounds his face more instead of being wild. He looks like a little toddler boy now and more like daddy.

Our little man

Ian's getting such a personality now. I had to add this picture, it reminds me of his daddy. Ian likes to pick up rocks and throw them. We were walking back from the community park and just when I thought we're almost home, Ian decides he wants to start playing with the rocks. I can't deny Ian fun time, so he played there for about 15 minutes.

Papi and Wee Granny came to visit for several days last week. Everyone had a great visit. Ian is much more communicative now, so he was able to say 'Papi' and 'Granny' amongst other words. They had fun at the park and the zoo. Papi would take Ian outside a lot as well, Ian's favorite. There is a big bird that has decided to spend it's days by the Marler pool. Ian and Papi have named him 'Elmir' or in Ian's words 'Melmir' or 'brrrr' (for bird).

New words:

Melmo (Elmo)

ciemb (for climb)

bye-bye

yes, no

bed

up, down

open, close

cracker, cookie

yum-mum

dink (drink)

more please

mine!

uh oh! (for anything out of place)

peepee, poopoo (he doesn't like a messy diaper)

gucky (for anything gross or messy)

baby (pointing to mommy's tummy)

Ian has a wild mop of curls and is going to get his first haircut as soon as mommy and daddy can talk themselves into taking the plunge. Hopefully the curls come back after the cutting.
